Beauty Review: ColourPop x Hello Kitty

I'd had my eye on the ColourPop x Hello Kitty range ever since it was launched last year, but didn't take the plunge with my first ColourPop order. Sadly, some of my first order arrived shrivelled and broken, but after letting the awesome ColourPop team know they apologised and sent me a voucher for the value of my broken products pretty much instantly! As much as I loved the eyeshadows from my first order, I didn't want to take the risk of ordering again in case the same thing happened. Knowing I was safe with lipsticks I took this as the perfect chance to get my hands on some of the cute as hell Hello Kitty range!

I couldn't make my mind up as to which ones I wanted to try out, so instead opted for the Puroland multipack, so that way I'd get a little taster of the whole range! And also, any make-up product named after the Hello Kitty theme park is pretty much guaranteed to end up in my basket.

First things first, look at the packaging! Recently I've had a bit of an issue with hoarding packaging. Brands just keep making it so damn cute that I find it really hard to let it go, and my god, just look at this adorable little cigarette packet style box. It has a Hello Kitty cut out window for god's sake, how am I supposed to part with this?! And then the tubes themselves have adorable little Hello Kitty bows around the rim to mark them as separate from the standard ColourPop range.

Honestly, I know it's my own fault for not really understanding/paying attention but the lipsticks were a LOT smaller than I was expecting. It's fine because I rarely get to the bottom of a lipstick tube and probably never will with this bunch, but still it did take me by surprise.

So, onto the products themselves. There are five different lipsticks in the pack and a mixture of ColourPop's Ultra Matte and Ultra Satin formulas. The matte lipsticks are incredibly opaque and quick-drying. On top of that, they're extremely long wearing (so much so that I really had to scrub my hand the get rid of the swatches!). Honestly, the Ultra Satin colours aren't that noticeably different from the Ultra Matte, which is by no means a bad thing, I just don't understand why they're labelled as two different products. Or maybe the Ultra Satin shows up better in different colours? Who knows!

The five shades available are: Ribbon (a rich blue red), Tiny Chum (a soft mauve), Lock Diary (a deep fucshia), Milk Bottle (a mid-tone pink) and Mimmy (a rich smokey mauve). The Puroland collection is the perfect blend of colours for my preferred palette, the subtle brownish pinks are bang on trend and honestly better than anything similar I've worn from Kat Von D or Jeffree Star (and for a fraction of the price). Lock Diary and Ribbon are a lot more vivid in person so will probably be something I'd wear less often, but since switching to cruelty free products it's nice to finally replace these shades from the Mac dupes I currently own.

Overall I'm really impressed with the Puroland box from ColourPop x Hello Kitty. It's a great range of shades for every mood, perfectly travel sized and an excellent way to get a taster of the shades before settling on your favourite. As with all ColourPop lipsticks, I'd definitely recommend them and even with the shipping and inevitable customs fees super affordable and great value for money when compared with the other liquid lipstick giants like Kat Von D and Jeffree Star. Check it out!

Talk later xoxo,
