Top 10 Bucket List Coasters

Following my updated theme park bucket list blog, I thought I'd also update my bucket list of coasters I'd like to ride! I love how things like this are ever changing - between ticking things off the list with each passing trip to new and exciting coasters being built all over the world, the list is never finite so it's always fun to check in every now and then. Here's the current status!

OK so personally I DO think RMC are ever so slightly over-hyped. Don't get me wrong, they make incredible coasters, but I hate this idea that just because a coaster is built by RMC that means it must be the best thing ever, no arguments about it. That said, Steel Vengeance just looks obscene. Firstly it's fucking MASSIVE. I love me a huge first drop and SV definitely delivers in that department. Secondly it's just so innovative and creative with its layout - it's really easy to get bored of the same old same old when you've been on lots of coasters so I am grateful to RMC for shaking things up in that department.

I've heard a lot of different opinions about this coaster. Overhyped, painful, boring. But whatever, it's a legendary coaster and it's one I'm dying to get my bum on. And I do have a strange affection for long rambling coasters - I adore The Ultimate despite it being slightly on the rough side and I absolutely adored The Voyage at Holiday World. I quite like the randomness of them and how they really take you on an adventure into the wilderness. You really do feel like you have no idea what's about to happen and I love that in a coaster. Beast just seems like it has that vibe.

Lord knows I wouldn't dream of ever setting foot in the hole of the earth that is Carowinds, but when a beast like Fury 325 now resides there you'd forgive me for being a hypocrite. I find B&M hypers super hit and miss, so I'm intrigued to see what I'd think of a giga! That said, I adore me some floaty, prolonged airtime so you can see why Fury 325 would be enticing. Plus pretty much everyone I know who has been on it has loved it so I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed!

Look, we all know I'm not the biggest fan of Mack coasters, but have you SEEN the size of the vertical loop on this thing? I just need to experience it for myself, it looks absolutely insane. Plus the rest of the layout looks really imaginative and fun - loads of whippy transitions and airtime moments. It makes me think of a modern taken on those classic Intamin airtime machines from the early noughties like Superman the Ride and Expedition GeForce. Plus Lewa Adventure itself looks pretty fab!

On paper, Maverick is everything I love in a coaster. It's got the launch, the airtime, the snappy transitions, it's built by Intamin. It's been one I've had my eye on since it opened in 2007 and more than ten years later I'm still no less excited to ride it. Given how much I absolutely adore Taron, Maverick to me seems like it would ride similarly. Yes, I know it has the older Intamin OTSRs which can cut down on the fun slightly but it just looks so majestic and forceful and fabulous!

Hyperion just kind of came out of nowhere didn't it? For me it looks like it could be the perfect coaster if we're going for classic style over the innovation of a company like RMC. It's got the floaty looking airtime hills and height of the B&M hypers combined with the power and intensity that comes with an Intamin design. Add on top of that the ground hugging elements and the slightly overhanging seat layout and it's hard to imagine a world where this wouldn't ride brilliantly. Definitely one I'm gagged for.

As if I need an excuse to go back to the magical land that is Dollywood, but a launched RMC? Gimme, gimme gimme! Quadruple down, mega airtime, coaster through the trees, themed to fifties hot rod racers, like...it feels like this coaster was actually designed just for me? I absolutely adore Iron Rattler and layout wise this feels pretty similar, what with all the diving off of hills and such. I love coasters where you can literally see the airtime before you've even sat in the trains and Lightning Rod is definitely one of those for me!

I've always been a secret Vekoma fangirl. I've never actually found many of their coasters as bad as their reputation would have you believe and I've always felt they're way more innovative than they've historically been given credit for. So I'm sooo glad that with Lech Coaster they're finally getting the praise they've long deserved! And what a way to relaunch your brand - Lech Coaster is a complete departure from anything we've seen from Vekoma before and in the best way possible. From the compact layout stuffed with elements to the slick new train design to the epic looking first drop. It just looks like it'll deliver the forces and fun every inch of the layout and I need it immediately.

Y'all know I love Stealth and Dragster to me just seems like Stealth on crack. With no OTSRs. That is all.

Look, I know this will probably ride like shit, but it's very rare for me these days that a coaster scares me and I genuinely think Gravity Max has that potential. I won't lie, it's on my list purely for the weird factor, it just looks obscene in every possible way. Like, imagine the terror as you're lifted vertically facing the ground before being released. I can't even begin to imagine how much I'd be pooing myself so I need to experience it for myself.

Obviously there are literally HUNDREDS of coasters that I want to ride, but these are the ones that stick out for me currently. What about you? What's on your must-ride list? Let me know in the comments, let's have a chat!

Talk later xoxo,

  1. I've been on many of these coasters (SV, Fury, Beast, TTD, Maverick) and I have to say that while they are all worth it, 2 of them are amazing coasters - Steel Vengeance and Fury 325. They are leaders in their cateogries IMHO. The other 3 are good and since 2 of them are also at CP they are worth riding. Beast is good if you're going to KI, but I wouldn't make it a special trip.
