5 Enthusiast Resolutions For 2019

Ah, a fresh year, a fresh theme park season and a whole twelve months of theme park visits and adventures just waited to be embarked upon. How bloody exciting. Honestly, I'm not really one for new year's resolutions in general - I just try to live my life to the best of my ability day to day and a change of date isn't enough to kickstart me into changing something. I think this year all I've said is that I'll try to take my make-up off before I go to bed or something equally as shit? But it DID occur to me that I've never made myself a set of theme park 'resolutions' or...goals I guess you could also call them. So I'm starting a new tradition for myself. Here are five enthusiast resolutions I'm setting myself for 2019!

The past few years I've kind of neglected the UK. Back in 2015 I went on a bit of a mission to complete the UK cred-wise, and as part of that I ended up in some really weird and wonderful parts of the UK. There's nothing I love more than a tacky, kitsch British seaside resort, and there are absolutely loads to enjoy all around the country. I don't have too many creds left to sweep up in the UK, but I'm going to endeavour to ensure I visit more of these places this year in between my bigger trips. Especially if the weather is as fab as it has been this year! I'm thinking a little south coast sweep August bank holiday and maybe a pop up to the north east in May as I haven't been up there in absolutely ages.

Years of cred-whoring and inhaling as many coaster ides as possible has lead me to neglect the humble flat ride. So much so that I'd managed to convince myself that I don't really enjoy them that much - especially spinny ones. Well this year I had the joy of riding the fabulous Loke, Liseberg's giant gyro swing as well as visiting a few funfairs and have ended up falling slightly back in love with flats. I'm going to try and ride as many as I can on my trips this year, although I will of course still be prioritising creds first. Obviously!

Some of you may not know this, but I'm a reeeeaaalllyyy fussy eater. And as a result of this, I'm very much a creature of habit when it comes to my theme park food consumption. I pretty much have a set list of pre-approved places in my head of where I'm willing to eat. That usually consists of heading to Pizza Pasta and stuffing my face with cheese and carbs. But what I've found in recent years is that I'm much more open to new flavours - I absolutely adored the food in Pandora and that is intentionally meant to be weird and alien-like! But yes, I'm going to do my damnedest to try some new-for-me food places this year to avoid the constant inhalation of pizza.

I finally took the plunge in 2018 and started vlogging my park visits. One of the reasons it took me so long to actually start vlogging was that I was worried I would either not take as many photos or end up trying to take loads of photos and filming at the same time, meaning I would compromise my actual experience at the parks. I've just finished uploading all of my 2018 photo albums to my Flickr and I was a little disheartened to see how many photos I didn't take. I want to make more of an effort to take more photos this season as it's something I love doing and feel like I've neglected it slightly this year as I got to grips with vlogging.

Not that I need more theme park crap, but aside from Disney parks I tend not to buy park tat. Mostly because I never really see anything I really lovely, but also partly because I don't really have the room. For a while I collected pin badges (when I worked at TGI Fridays my braces were covered with pins) but now I don't really have use for them, I used to collect mugs but now I've ran out of space and same goes for magnets. I want to choose something else to collect...pens or something else generic that a lot of parks will likely have available and almost start a brand new collection. I don't know why but there's something satisfying about having something physically tangible to commemorate a theme park visit.

Nothing too wild then, but a few things that will hopefully have a positive impact on my 2019 season ranging from an improved experience to creating more last memories of each park visit! Do you have any theme park related new year's resolutions? What are your park visit goals for this year?

Talk later xoxo,

  1. Oooh, a trip to the north east you say?? might bump into you while you're up here in my neck of the woods. :)

I agree with the whole flat ride thing; I'm conscious that I avoid a lot of spinning rides in case they make me ill, but I really should just power on past that!
