Massive Make-Up Haul

After being bored of my make-up collection for a while now and after months of Instagram lusting, I finally gave in and splurged on a buttload of new make-up, just in time for Spring! It's a mixture of blogger favourites and some newer brands/products I've been eyeing up for a while now so I thought I'd share my haul with you all! All of these products have been sourced using UK retailers to save on shipping/customs charges, so I'll share where I got them all from too!

In the recent flood of popularity for eyeshadow palettes, it's been hard to find one that is both good quality and isn't going to send me into destitution. After a lot of research and consideration I plumped for a Morphe Brushes palette. This palette is such good value for money I don't know where to begin, but considering you get 35 highly-pigmented and on trend colours for what works out to be less than £1 per colour is a pretty good start. I've been having so much fun with this palette, you can already tell which colours are my favourites! They're ridiculously easy to blend and a balanced mixture of matte and shimmery options to choose from, the possibilities are seemingly endless!

I grabbed mine from Beauty Bay.

I've been after a new foundation for a while now. I've never found 'the one' and have always bounced between a mixture of high street brands and MAC. Having been super impressed with my Too Faced Blush Bronzer Duo I thought I'd give their foundation a go to see what it was like. Unfortunately they didn't have my ideal colour, Porcelain, in stock, so I opted for a shade darker in Vanilla. At first swatch my hear sank as I thought it was far too yellow for my skin, but when actually worn I really like the colour! It does say medium-full coverage, and being someone with problem skin I do wear a couple of layers to get my desired coverage, but it's not an issue as it is super buildable. One thing I would say is you do have to give this foundation a little while to dry before going ahead with blusher/bronzer - it's definitely not the quickest drying foundation I've ever used! The formula uses Coconut Water so is incredibly moisturising and refreshing on the skin - not heavy or cakey at all. I'm still getting to grips with the layering part but apart from that I'm really loving it.

I got mine from Debenhams. Always good to do a quick Google for a discount code before you go ahead and buy - I managed to get 10% off!

Second in the 'new to me' brands of this haul are some incredible matte liquid lipsticks from Makeup Monsters. I've seen loads of reports and swatches of these amazing lipsticks on Instagram saying that they're pretty much identical to the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks, so I did a bit of digging, found a UK supplier and grabbed myself a couple to try. I opted for Cornucopia, which is a gorgeous burnt orange and Sedona, a beautiful pinkish-brown shade that reminded me of my beloved Lovecraft from Kat Von D Cosmetics. So yeah, the reports were correct - these are extremely similar to the JS lipsticks in consistency, colour and application (the tube the product comes in is exactly the same as the JS one). I'd actually go as far as to say the applicator itself is better and more precise than JS. The only difference I can tell so far is that the JS lipsticks are a little more resilient when it comes to things like eating. That's not to say Makeup Monsters didn't stay put, they did, they just needed a little touching up. Also, look at the amazing Monsters High-esque packaging! So adorable. I'll definitely be investing in a few more of these in the future.

Yeah so I know I'm pretty late to the party with this one as now everyone and their mum has one of these but I finally got my hands on the Lime Crime Venus Palette. Admittedly I had been holding out for a high street (ie more affordable) equivalent of this to emerge, but got bored of waiting and treated myself instead. Once again, the colours are so pigmented, exactly the colour you see in the palette which doesn't really happen that often! Super blendable and on trend, despite having only six colours in the palette there are so many different looks to create with this one I know it's going to keep me going for a long time. I've also now decided that I pretty much need Venus II now so expect to see that in a future make-up haul!

I got mine from UK retailer Love Makeup who also stock a good range of other Lime Crime products too!

It's kind of funny now how pedestrian MAC products now seem with all of the breakout indie make-up brands now available due to Instagram. That said, I couldn't help but lust over these two gorgeous matte nudes in Velvet Teddy and Yash. As you can see, I've already gotten loads of use out of Velvet Teddy - it's my new go to and matches pretty much everything. I seem to have made it my mission to own every nude MAC lipstick and I have to say it seems I'm not far off now!

Well, yh, it's the MAC website isn't it.

AWOOGA AWOOGA! Affordable on-trend high-street brand alert! Boots have recently started stocking NYX Lingerie Lipstick online and my god, they are incredible value for money! I went on to just grab one and they were so cheap that I ended up with three instead, in shades Push-Up, a peachy nudey tone, Embellishment, a brownish-lavender tone and Teddy, a rich brown tone. All dry in a lovely matte finish that does not dry out the lips and could easily be mistaken for Jeffree Star or Lime Crime Velvetines. They're exclusively in nude/natural tones, so no extreme colours here, but such an amazing range that there's literally something for everyone. Admittedly they do take a few layers for the desired final effect but once its on, its on and only some serious lip action can budge it. Can't believe what good value for money these are and can't wait to get my hands on more!

Boots, but only online at the moment!

Last but not least, I wanted something a bit more colourful to add to my Spring make-up selection, and on a bit of a whim nabbed myself a few Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I'd never heard/seen anything about this brand but stumbled across them on Cute Cosmetics and fell in love with the colours (and, admittedly, names) of these beauties! The colours are super bright, almost neon in some cases for when you want to channel your inner Barbie doll. They're not called Lip Tar for nothing either, the consistency of these is pretty...sticky, I suppose? Honestly it's not the most comfortable product to wear at first, but once it dries it feels fine. Also, these products smell of peppermint and leave a fresh tingly sensation on your lips when you're done applying. Cool! OCC have an incredible range of really out there colours, including some amazing metallic shades that I have bookmarked for my next splurge!

I'd like to say that should keep me going for a while, but I know that's not true and it won't take long for me to find something else to lust after. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy playing around with these bits and seeing what Springtime looks I can create!

Have you updated your make-up collection for Spring? What's your favourite indie make-up brand? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to have a chat!
