How To Clean Your Make-Up Brushes

I'll admit it, in the past I haven't taken the best care of the contents of my make-up bag and I'm shocked I didn't ever suffer with eye infections and the like. Seriously, there was some nasty shit going on in there! However, as I've started to gather a collection of more premium bits for my make-up bag I've made it my mission to look after them. And this is a daily struggle if you're like me and just untidy and messy by nature. So to help any fellow messy-heads like myself I thought I'd put together a little how-to of how I clean my brushes. Mostly to actually kick myself up the arse and actually clean them, but also just to have too.

*Disclaimer* In no way am I saying this is the ONLY way to clean brushes. Hell, I might be doing it completely wrong for all I know, but this is how I clean them and it works for me!

You will need:

- Your dirty brushes (duh)
- An old towel you don't mind dirtying up a bit
- Baby Shampoo
- A bowl of warm water

Squirt a little baby shampoo into your bowl of warm water and swish it around until it's nice and frothy

Take a brush and lightly swish it around in the warm soapy water

Inspect the brush to see if it's clean. If it is, move on to the next step. If not, swish it around a little more, but be gentle! You don't want to damage the hairs!

Lightly squeeze any excess water from the brush

Gently wipe the brush in delicate circular motions on the towel to separate hairs and finish removing any make-up not removed from swishing

Stand brush vertically against a wall or edge so that any remaining water can drain away

Leave to dry

And that's it! It's stupidly easy and takes around 10 minutes not taking into account drying time, so no excuses!
