So last weekend I went to represent MAC at the UMAE Expo 2015. For those who don't know, UMAE is an up and coming make-up show with 2015 being its third year of operation. As opposed to IMATS which is more of a beauty focused show, UMAE veers more on the side of the unusual and theatrical/film side of make-up. I spent most of my weekend staring at slit-throats, goblin-girls, scary pirate guys, bird people and LOADS of bum-cheeks and sideboob from girls being body-painted. The skill of these artists is incredible and to stand and watch people being transformed into these creations for the very first step was such an interesting experience for me. I'd love to be able to do something like that and whilst I don't think I'm lacking in talent I definitely don't think I'd have the painstaking patience to pull it off to such minute detail. I think one of the most impressive things of the whole show was the tattoo transfers, pictured above. They are ridiculously lifelike and I was completely taken aback that a transfer could be so realistic and convincing!
Unfortunately the show wasn't too busy, but as it is still up and coming I definitely think it will continually get busier as the years go on. I'd say if you're into prosthetics or a more elaborate/theatrical make-up you should definitely check it out in 2016!
